No you just won't accept wankers who have ripped off the furlough scheme and this is what you get.

Yet you want more government Dekka. How curious.

We just want a better and competent government. Don't equate this bunch of crooks and morons that you campaigned for with a functioning government of the people.

Ah, you just want a "better" government. As do I do.

I'd also like a mint low mileage Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1, which is just as likely.

Another deflection, much like the 'i didn't campaign for this shower of shite' line - IIRC you, as part of your local conservative group, were on the campaign trail with *as you call him) Saj, or have i remembered that incorrectly?

Where's this figure from LIQ, if they've identified it as fraud then they will take action. If it's just a guess based on some generic calculation of fraudulent claims through other benefits then it means next to nothing

I think what is emerging clearly now is that a Labour Govt would have been in a better position to deal with this crisis than a Conservative one.

Simply because they would have pursued a policy that was coherent and not dysfunctional like the present Govt.

With the growing influence that the Chancellor has , he has more than one eye on the economic impact of the covid response and the growing national debt and is taking decisions which act against the govt's attempts to curb infection rates. The treasuries policies are making it more difficult for ordinary people to adhere to lockdown restrictions . But whilst the Chancellor's attention is drawn to the state of the economy, other in the Govt are concerned by the impact an uncontrolled covid will have on the NHS, and to the economy. In effect the Govt are trying to ride two horses travelling in different directions.

I think Labour would take a more coherent approach and provide the resources necessary to back up any restrictions to curb covid they would put in place.

You could argue that in the medium and long term this would be the wrong approach, that would be for the future to decide, but at the moment we are in danger of getting the worst of both worlds.

It's an HMRC estimate - they estimated 5-10% of payments of 35.4b were down to fraud or error.

So if you take the 10% and ignore that it also includes error then you get 3.5b

"Up to £3.5bn in Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme payments may have been claimed fraudulently or paid out in error, the government has said.
HM Revenue and Customs told MPs on the Public Accounts Committee it estimates that 5-10% of furlough cash has been wrongly awarded."

No doubt there has been some fraud and they should go after them
