I went to see John Shuttleworth aka Jilted john back in February. Still very amusing. Opened the show with a song about his bad back - "I pray though, it's just lumbago".
At Brum Town Hall? We were there also, great show.

Seen him at Lincoln and Louth in recent years.  Have tickets for the show at Louth postponed this March.  Mrs H loves him.

We saw him some years back in the Swan Theatre Worcester - very good!
Loved his Brian Appleton character too!  Big Grin

Ferry wrote some pretty amazing songs on Roxy's 1st four albums.

If there is something;  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0UvZIZLUTo - play it as loud as possible it's unbelievable!

and, In Every Dream Home a Heartache;  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqXSAdOfCUE

Mother of Pearl - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhCOqj4Pyb8

are three very original songs.  Written nearly 50 years ago, yet so futuristic.

So many on those albums.  Every one a classic.

Yes., that's the one. Almost coughed up my oesophagus at one point, I was laughing so hard. My first time in that venue since my graduation in 1989, so felt nostalgic too.

I love to love
But my baby just loves to dance.

Epic. Try and beat that.

At the other end of the spectrum

We passed upon the stair
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
Which came as a surprise
I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone
A long long time ago

Better the pride that resides
In a citizen of the world
Than the pride that divides
When a colourful rag is unfurled.

Loved those first 2 albums when I was young. I've revisited them regularly and they sound as fresh today as then.   "If there is something" is magnificent, especially that middle bit with the oboe solo.   Another track that needs playing loud is Grey Lagoons, from For your pleasure.

Begin the day
With a friendly voice
A companion, unobtrusive
Plays that song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood
Off on your way
Hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
For the spirit ever lingers
Undemanding contact
In your happy solitude
Invisible airwaves
Crackle with life
Bright antennae bristle
With the energy
Emotional feedback
On a timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price
Almost free
All this machinery
Making modern music
Can still be open-hearted
Not so coldly charted
It's really just a question
Of your honesty, yeah, your honesty
One likes to believe
In the freedom of music
But glittering prizes
And endless compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity, yeah
Invisible airwaves
Crackle with life
Bright antennae bristle
With the energy
Emotional feedback
On a timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price
Almost free
For the words of the profits
Were written on the studio wall
Concert hall
And echoes with the sound of salesmen
Of salesmen, of salesmen
