Very good interview indeed.

A telling comment here:

"The squad has a lot more harmony… everyone now wants to be here, pulling in the same direction rather than pursuing individual goals."

Fantastic interview. He comes across the same on the pitch, too. Very mature and a natural but quiet leader.

I never quite understood the anger towards him last year and always thought he was solid and reliable even when the team collectively was making mistakes. We are very lucky to have 3 such competent defenders.

“and I’ve been given a right and left boot this year”

He improved during the tail-end of last season and seems to have continued in the same vein. That's pretty much it, really. There were also a few moments when we were all giving pelters to Hegazi on here as well not that long ago.

That interview was in Saturday's programme. Bartley vastly improved on last season.

I think he's been good ever since the start of the year. IIRC he played in defence in the cup match at Brighton and was probably the most senior member of the team. He marshalled the defence really well. He can pass a ball well too. Let's be honest, when we were playing 3 at the back, none of our defenders looked particularly good.
