Mercury Prize - chasetownbaggie - 09-20-2019
This managed to bypass me this year but I see rapper slowthai won it last night. Not heard anything by him before but listened to a couple of tracks at lunchtime. Not my bag - worthy winner?

Slowthai didn’t win. (He won the newspaper column inches title for coming on stage with a severed Boris head and a Fuck Boris t-shirt.) It was Dave, who did deserve to win. Thought it was a good show, even if a lot of it wasn’t to my taste.

Slowthai’s album is good (actually mentions the Brom at one point). Not actually listened to Dave’s so couldn’t say whether it was deserving or not.
Out of those on the list I had heard I’d have given it to Fontaines DC.

And then, bruv, this whole time, we're just looking for a tout
Like a ticket tout to buy tickets to the game
Like for hours, we missed the first half of it
And it was like, I always remember bein' so pissed that
'Cause it was like, man lied to me, innit, after everything
If he said to me, "I ain't got the tickets," I wouldn't have even bothered
