Who are Millwall? - Idiodyssey - 08-09-2019 Notice lots of casual predictions about an easy win tomorrow. But what do we know about Millwall? I see their manager last week said he thought Preston played well ‘but couldn’t break us down.’ (Millwall were at home). Lots of this fans on message board predicting 5 in midfield with striker bought on late. So maybe that’s the task - to break them down. Hérésie an overview from a Millwall fan(by the way, whoever Williams is, heavy hated by many fans and seen as manager favourite, dm I think). A tough away fixture to start the season on our travels. New manager, some new signings yesterday, an away win for them on their first outing and high expectations by their fans. All of those things could work in our favour as we travel to the Hawthorns full of optimism after last week’s great start. The old adage of never change a winning team comes to mind and there will be many in our squad who will be hoping to get a start. That will probably have to wait until the mid week cup game. One certain change to the starting line up will be Bart in between the sticks. His surprise debut came last week after Frank was crocked but he looked cool calm and collected and is sure to make his first start for us with Steele on the bench. Mahlon was solid last week and I think that McCarthy will have to wait for his debut. Our two CB’s also looked solid last week and I cannot see Hutch stepping up to replace either. MOM Wallace will have been delighted with his performance against Barkhuizen and will hope, his good form continues tomorrow. I was pleased to be wrong last week when I suggested Jed started on the bench but he played well and scored the only goal. It will be interesting if he can replicate that form tomorrow. If not, Skalak will be chomping at the bit to take his place. There are some on here who will be hoping for a change in CM with Leonard replacing Williams. It really depends on whether NH feels we need more bite and mobility in the middle. Thompson can definitely provide that but is he partnered better with Shaun or Ryan. It is a big call. There is no big call to make about wide left as Mahoney has pace, class and threat and will be looking forward to displaying all his skills at the Hawthorns. There could be a debate about who plays up front. Smith leads the line well but is he partnered better with AOB, Bradshaw or Bod. Or does NH fill the midfield with Williams and Leonard and push Ben forward, as he did in the latter stages last week. It is an interesting call. My guess is that he will stick to what he knows and give himself options for change later in the game. I will be there to see it for my first ever visit to the Hawthorns. Look out for a silver haired gent with a blue and white thin jacket on. There will be a Just Back later. My team thoughts are, Bart Romeo Pearce Cooper Wallace Jed Thompson Williams Mahoney Smith AOB Subs Steele Hutch Fergie Leonard Skalak Bod Bradshaw RE: Who are Millwall? - MassDebater - 08-09-2019 They were very tough to break down last year too. Get one and we should win....the longer it goes on and the more chances they get to nick one and it could go sour. It won't be easy. RE: Who are Millwall? - Cunninghamismagic - 08-09-2019 They have a striker called Any Other Business (AOB). Ferguson and O'Brien are fast and have a very good delivery... I really liked Skalak when he was at Brighton too, he's mercurial and inconsistent, but on his day he's one of the best crossers in the division... Expect the ball being lumped into the mixer at any opportunity where Smith's head will usually be waiting. RE: Who are Millwall? - Sandking - 08-09-2019 It was a great late 80`s team. Upsetting the applecart. Extremely solid spine with a young Jimmy Carter adding decent pace & width. Probably alone but I have soft spot for them.
