Just back... - Jacko - 02-14-2026 That was a very strange game. We started well (first ten minutes) and then they figured out Whitwell wanted far more time on the ball than they needed to allow him and that Diakite's only job is to get tit to Whitwell. AFAIK, Harry was playing out of position and looked much better when pushed into AM 2nd half. The issues in midfield coupled with AG playing left back with a left foot that he can only just stand on (a problem for the full 97 minutes) which meant our entire left flank was almost completely shut down led to an extremely dominant 1st half Norwich performance only kept respectable by a superb goalkeeping display by Josh Griffiths (still my man of the match despite coming off injured at halftime). 2nd dig, Ramsay fixed midfield in a stroke by bringing Mowatt on and pushing Whitwell further forward (Mustapha slightly unlucky, but as everyone says, I'd rather our young players get the minutes and HW had a stinking first half in a deeper role). We dominated the game 2nd half up until Bielik (presumably injured) was substituted for Molumby which made a mess of both the defence and midfield. Our goal was very good and until that late change only one side (us for any wags reading) was going on to win that game imo. I've seen massive overreaction in the ground and on socials to the result. This was a scratch team, without a functioning midfield, left side or for the last 10 odd minutes central defence. Pity we didn't get through, but as usual Norwich's forward players turned into prime Aguero/Bergkamp/Roberto Carlos whenever they got a sniff at goal. A week to get past some of these niggly injuries and then rock up on Saturday and have a right go at Coventry whose confidence is on it's arse. Griffiths 9 Imray 6 Bielik 7 Taylor 6 Gilchrist 6 Whitwell 5 Diakite 6 Johnston 6 Mustapha 6 Bostock 6 Maja 8 O'Leary 6 Mowatt 7 Price 7 JJA 6 Molumby 5 RE: Just back... - KRO - 02-14-2026 Respect for going. Fair fucks. The only way to see what’s what though. My pal said tickets were a tenner. Is that right and how many did Albion take? RE: Just back... - Jacko - 02-14-2026 It was a tenner in, they announced the attendance as 25k+ which is decent for a cup tie against opposition in the same division, The Hawthorns would have been half empty if the fixture was reversed. I'd guess we took about 1800, but I don't know. RE: Just back... - KRO - 02-14-2026 Cheers for the reply. Really thought you’d sell out at that price. But as I said respect for going. Not trying to patronise but seeing the shit results helps you enjoy the good ones more. Keep the habit going. Greatest hobby in the world RE: Just back... - Jacko - 02-14-2026 Don't need to tell me mate, I've done 31 of our 35 games this season, home games are 4 hour round trips... RE: Just back... - CIM - 02-14-2026 Decent summary Jacko. Not overly worried by today In what was a make shift side. Out back 4 when we conceded the 2 goals in the final 10 minutes was a RWB at RB. Midfielder and LB at CB. And a RB at LB. Still plenty of games to play. There will be plenty of twists & turns before the season ends in 3 months. RE: Just back... - KRO - 02-14-2026 Top man (tu) RE: Just back... - UCEbaggie - 02-14-2026 I’d have thought we had just over 2000 there. I thought for periods of the 2nd half we were very decent. First half was a horror show though really, but effort was there throughout. The Pizza at Voodoo Daddy’s in the City Centre was the high point. My third trip to Carrow Road in three years and we’ve lost them all RE: Just back... - CA Baggie - 02-14-2026 I think we had a 2000 allocation and it was pretty much full. I’d say given the fact it’s a team in our division, the distance, our current form and the earache from the Mrs for Valentine’s night it’s a decent effort. We stayed til the end but got away quite quick and still didnt get back until 9. Back to the game. Fair summary from Jacko, we were also hampered by 2 injury subs, I doubt for 1 minute he was ever going to sub the keeper at HT or that he wanted Diakite to end up at CB alongside Charlie Taylor. I don’t think we could have done much difference in defence, clearly wanted to rest Styles. Whitwell was out of position 1st half, bit better in 2nd. If we’d played a stronger team and picked up injuries, people would complain. Our league campaign, past or future results will not be negatively harmed by today. We played the league’s form team, on their own patch aand gave them a good game, bar a chunk of the first half, despite it being a scratch side. No idea why anyone would moan based on today. RE: Just back... - baggiebuckster - 02-15-2026 I went too. Decent summary. We lost control after about the first 10 minutes and did well to get in at halftime only 1-0 down. We were better in the second half and seemed to have the momentum when we equalised but that all evaporated when Ramsay took off Bostock and Whitwell. No idea why in particular Bostock was hooked - he was causing problems down the right hand side after being starved of the ball in the first half whilst playing on the left. I don't see how Price gets a 7 - personally I thought he was fairly anonymous. |
