Easter Sunday - Fulham Fallout - 03-06-2024 With the majority of people not being practicing Christians, should the shops be allowed to open on Easter Sunday? Most people enjoy Christmas Day and it’s only fair the shops are closed to allow people to enjoy a day of overindulging with family. But Easter. I mean, who gives a fuck?? Chocolate Easter Onions? RE: Easter Sunday - SausEggBaton - 03-06-2024 Firstly, how do you know that most people are not practicing Christians, that is very presumptuous of you. Secondly, as a practicing Christian they shut for Christs birthday, they can shut for his resurrection. I'm pretty sure Alfred or Doris can do without going the shops for one day and observe the Christian (Church of England) backed Trading Laws of this great country! Station staff are too busy washing cars to notice. RE: Easter Sunday - rsbaggy2 - 03-06-2024 Fact is many local convenience stores have limited opening on Christmas day. This is driven by demand. Easter opening is also similarly observed. Hence, if folk are desperate for a loaf or milk or ciggies and booze, they will find a store open somewhere. No need for the big chains to open. RE: Easter Sunday - Kit Kat Chunky - 03-06-2024 More pee'd off that shops close at 16.00 on Sunday. You only need to look at the small amount of (generally elderly) people leaving churches on a Sunday, to tell you most people are not practicing Christians. If you visit Sparkbrook on Easter Sunday, you will see plenty of shops open for business. In fact, last year I'd forgotten something for the dinner I was cooking and popped to Sparkbrook for the item in question, which I purchased from the largest supermarket down there. They were all open. We could have footie games played on Easter Sunday too. RE: Easter Sunday - Lurker#3 - 03-06-2024 I am all for giving retail folk as many weekend days off. So yes, a day about a bloke coming back to life seems like as good an excuse as any! |
