Shan: Sounds like a man who knows he won't - Hopalong - 04-06-2019

be in charge much longer and pulls no punches with this spineless bunch of prima-donnas.

Well done and bang on Jimmy -  honest, direct and left no stone unturned.  You would never have got an honest assessment like that from Big Dave - just waffle.

I hope there's a job for him whenever the new Boss is appointed.

"It's been game by game so that's my mentality,"

Sums it all up.

Unfortunately that seems to also have been the club's mentality

Any "manager" who believes Townsend is a better call than Gibbs at LB doesn't deserve to be manager in the fust place.

Although Townsend was really good last week and Gibbs possibly not 100% fit to start

He's never been really good in terms of top end championship level. Had some absolute shockers with the very occasional decent performance. Not knocking him, he's a tryer but not a championship player, imo.

He’s shown enough in recent weeks to suggest that he could be, and consistency will come from a run of games.  My point was that he was unlikely to be dropped after a good performance last week with Gibbs not 100% fit to start.

I heard this interview. Comments like we lost momentum, could have gone on to score 2 or 3 etc. Not sure if those who saw the game would agree.

I'm very much old school, but modern coaching seems very complicated. Im not sure if the game was so difficult in years gone by, and it is clear that at times this year the players haven't understood the plan.

Player for player the squad is good enough. For the last few games, do we need a coach that let's them just go and play their natural game?

We were without doubt on top when they scored and had our best 20 or so minutes directly prior to their goal. That said there were some serious flaws in the performance and lots to be disappointed with. There will always be fine margins and they did look fragile in our best spell and if we had scored the penalty who knows. Don't think there was a lot wrong with his interview.
