Fuck me, if Priti Patel was even suggesting what Macron is (rightly) implementing in France you lot would be all over it like an Antifa-rash.

Yet, silience.

I was after a nonner. It would prove my point. I could bring it up every time someone screamed waayccisstt, but now you've ruined it.

So what has he done?

RE: Macron - ChamonixBaggie - 12-08-2020

From the news over here it seems he wants to "crack down" in Islamic extremism and promote integration to French values. As far as I'm aware this hasn't resolved itself to any actual new policies as of yet.

Macron wants to end the 'enclaves' as it were of minority communities within French cities. Christ knows how he's going to do that.

The French are very very keen on their freedom of speech and their secular society/separation of church and state. They're also very keen on the idea of 'Frenchness' ie you're either French or you're not. If you come and live in France and settle you are very much expected to conform to the ideals of France and if you become a citizen thats it, you're French. This is why there was so much upset when people were saying "africa won the world cup" as all of those players were French citizens. Over here, it was the likes of Trevor Noah who were coming across as racist by saying they weren't really French.

The French can be quite inclusive really, as long as you actually want to become "French" and not just live in a little bubble of your own sort within France. We get some gip over here about it as Chamonix has a high population of Brits/Swedes/Aussies. It would be nice if a few more of them made an effort with the language tbh. .
