Agreed.

The Villa lad should be OK.  Very surprised we are not in for a right winger - even a young PL loan

Prior to last season Taylor had made 30+ appearances for Burnley in 5 out of 6 seasons so suggests his injury can't be that bad.

Taylor on way for medical according to some reports. Also this Winger from Villa can play on right, and cut inside just like Mikey does from left. This kid is dam good.

if you think 30+ games out of around 200+ possible games is good then, I'm gonna have to disagree! Or did you mean 30= games in each of 5 of the last 6 seasons?

Maybe Mason doesn’t actually want a wide right player in the Fellows mould and prefers a flexible 3 behind the central striker and Illing Junior is the best available option? As for people saying about us needing another striker we have 2 very good ones for this level and let’s not forget we have financial issues

A really good point. We are making a lot of assumptions that we need a straight replacement for Fellows yet to my eyes, Mason wants us to be fairly narrow and the three to be flexible. They swapped around a fair bit on Saturday.

Also good point about the strikers, you add in Dike, who the club haven't written off, we have 3 good strikers for 1 spot.

He means over 30 games a season in 5 of his 6 at Burnley. Missed 10weeks of last season with a hip problem, and had a groin issue before that.

I understand our financial situation but Illing-Junior and Charlie Taylor on loan makes selling Fellows for so little even more crazy. I thought, given the fee accepted, there must have been a need to get an addition over the line in the final days of the window but it seems we’re now merely adding squad fillers at a time when we still have sizeable issues with creativity in the squad.

The decision to go into the season with Mowatt-Molumby still as our starting midfield duo, and having such a lack of pace in attack is a mistake. Think we need to prepare ourselves for a few more frustrating Pompey style draws again!

I've only seen him playing kids football for England 21s but Illing-Jr looked direct and pretty rapid.   If he has any aspirations to reach his early potential he needs to be much more than a squad filler here. He really needs to make a big impact.
