You really have become the court jester Dekka. You add nothing of substance any more to any debate and when you are called out you simply stop replying. The problem is that court jesters were never that funny, they just encouraged the kings by egging them on.

And BJ is stating a fact that times were different but he has oversimplified it because there was always a line, and there were people like Farage that were way beyond that line and in some cases would take it to extremes.

And note to other posters - CC recognising after further points and apologising is exactly the way we should be behaving on here.

The Witchfinder General has spoken. That proves it. Get the ducking stool out

Agree on the apologising conduct though. Try it maybe?

I'm already regretting not going to QPR today so I'm off out now to do something enjoyable. I bid you all a good day and 3 Baggy points. Have a good 'un all

No. What BJ was doing was making an excuse for Farage bullying a 9 year old on the basis of their race when he was 17. What he did was unacceptable then and unacceptable now.

Can you imagine if someone did that to refer to the people who participated the pogroms in Russia in the last 19th century? Or who justified the Dreyfus affair in France? Or defended the supporters of lynchings in Jim Crow-era America?
Are there going to people 50 years from now defending the racists calling for "remigration" and claiming only white people can be English now because there's been an uptick of racist crap since the early 2010s?

It's a pathetic excuse, and it is bluntly an excuse as it's explicitly trying to downplay blatant racism and from a man who refuses to apologise for it to this day.

RE: Is it ok to be racist - baggy1 - 12-06-2025

It was unacceptable then BB - that is my reference to the line. Read the full post.

Edit: In fact any reference to Jews being gassed was probably more unacceptable then. Don’t forget in the 70s we were only 30 years from the war (1995 in today’s reference point). A great deal of the population had lived through or even fought in the war and making light of anything the Nazi’s did was the taboo of the day.

The wider racist commentary was still around and I read BJs post as referring to that.
