RE: Two State Delusion - Jacko - 09-26-2025 Fucking hell. Is anything not Israel's fault? Folk wonder why anti-semite is thrown around so liberally. RE: Two State Delusion - Borin' Baggie - 09-26-2025 If you're insinuating an avowed liberal Zionist is antisemitic for calling out the actions of a far right government then you've fucking lost it RE: Two State Delusion - Jacko - 09-26-2025 I'm not insinuating anything. I've no idea of your position on the Jewish state as an entity. But when every argument is 'it's Israel's fault', you can see why people are quick to go there. On this current topic, were Barghouti's conviction to be quashed and he was released, what influence do you think he would have over the Hamas leadership in Gaza or in exile? I think zero. RE: Two State Delusion - Borin' Baggie - 09-26-2025 The current Israel government - i.e. Netanyahu and what us now Likud - have systematically undermined the PA for decades and promoted Hamas in a blatant attempt at "divide and conquer". I do not blame Israel, I blame the current government. If Barghouti was released Hamas would be less popular in Gaza and the PA would have more authority over the Gaza Strip. It's not about influence over Hamas, it's about pushing them out. Hamas know he's not being released any time soon, their "allyship" is posturing and they hate the PA almost as much as they hate the Jews. I have been consistent in this entire conflict that the goal of Israel (aside from freeing the hostages) should be to use it as an opportunity to displace Hamas and replace their political structures but the current Israeli government does not want to do that because it goes against their goals in Gaza over the last 30 years. RE: Two State Delusion - Jacko - 09-26-2025 Cheers for the detailed reply, I don't see how PA pushes them out. It's a dictatorship, they got power and cancelled all future elections. There certainly won't be an uprising I feel? If only Iran / Hamas had your insight then maybe they wouldn’t have given the current Israeli government the perfect excuse execute its plan for Gaza. I think you should get a flight to Qatar to explain it all to them. RE: Two State Delusion - Borin' Baggie - 09-27-2025 Why, so I can get blown up by a rogue government led by an autocrat and pandering to religious nutjobs and the far right intent on undermining any avenue to peace? Israel is feeling the consequences, it's lost a significant proportion of it's goodwill and even the American right are starting to make criticisms. Whoever succeeds Netanyahu is going to need to do a hell of a lot to regain all of that lost trust. RE: Two State Delusion - Protheroe - 09-27-2025 I'm not sure you'll get blown up in Qatar. RE: Two State Delusion - Borin' Baggie - 09-27-2025 Not even a month has passed.
