But it's £10m this year vs £10m spread over a few years so difficult to say.

Would expect a LB and forward to come in regardless of outgoings.

Then any outgoings to be replaced.

Have to say I'm very impressed, as are most of us, by the new owners ' financial acumen.
I thought we'd be scrapping around a few frees and loans given our parlous financial state.
Instead we've seen a stream of good to decent signings, and only lost one player (maybe 2 if you include Grady) we wanted to keep.
And we're even expecting more...

Agree on LB - would hope we are after a No 10 (loan or otherwise)

Somebody who can play across the forward line including a 10 would be ideal. A really powerful ball carrier if possible.

I’d like someone with pace who can play across the front line ideally a left footer.

I think we need a LB (starter - not just a Frabotta style back up) and a No10/Winger (someone with pace who can take a player on) are the bare minimum we need. Ideally another defender - either a CB or RB, depending on where we see Campbell. With a new LB it would give us 7 defenders and I feel we need one more to cover injuries

Then ideally we move out Wildsmith and Cole and replace them also

I wouldnt be surprised for an unexpected departure - maybe Diakite or Taylor who are well down the pecking order and could raise some £. They would then need replacing also

I would expect 2/3 of any potential signings to be loans - we really need to make the most of the loan market this season

RE: ' Transfer Speculation Thread ' - Shabby Russian - 08-20-2025

I would have thought given that we currently have 4 sidemen and 4 central forwards in the squad we would need departures before any incoming.

Do religious persuasions really matter?

We need Diakité to help close out games and cover the gaps in the middle as he's been used this season, I wouldn't be comfortable just having Collyer for that. Also have to factor in we've got 4 midfielders for 2 positions which is pretty much the bare minimum for a 46 game season with injuries and rotation in midfield.
