As long as they have some background in medicine I'd agree, if they are just bloggers trying to up their ratings by playing on peoples fears I'd probably not want them muddying the water of debate.

Indeed, I agree. I'm not so much on about a random youtube blogger. I just worry that it won't be debated properly in the media, and people with genuine concerns will be labelled as anti science idiots, instead of debating those concerns with both sides of the argument (and like you say, both sides must have a scientific background, not a random youtube blogger)
I'm a big believer that forcing one narrative creates a bigger backlash in the end.

I'm not certain that they need it do they. Vaccinate the elderly and vulnerable and in theory problem solved isn't it? Go as far down the age groups as needed with what we've got after that. I'm out of the reckoning on this one though as my kids are well beyond school age (plus they were wimps when it came to jabs anyway)

Hope you're right. I've had plenty of vaccinations, two last year before a carribean holiday, but I really don't agree with them being mandatory. I understand there's been things going on in Denmark regarding this over the last couple of weeks.

From the BBC website now:
Beginning of December: Healthcare workers, care home residents and care home staff
Mid-December: People aged 80 or over
Late December: Those aged 70 to 80
Early January: Everyone aged 65 to 70, as well as all high and moderate risk under 65s
Mid-January: Everyone aged 50 to 65
Late January: Everyone else over the age of 18 (but most of this group would be vaccinated during March, the report says)
The leaked plan it seems so will soon find out.

If it doesn't already start to sink in here's the head of University Hospitals Birmingham:
The chief executive of University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB), Dr David Rosser, told a briefing this afternoon there were currently 452 Covid positive patients across three of its hospitals.
He said November’s admissions were on course to be double that of both March and April.
Dr Rosser also said he was struggling to understand why the trust was likely to be again the hardest-hit in the country in terms of admissions during this second wave.
Currently UHB is keeping one of its four hospitals, Solihull, as a "Covid free" treatment centre, but Dr Rosser said the trust was "close" to having to use that site for emergency Covid patients as well.
He said at the moment using Solihull would be preferable to using Birmingham's NHS Nightingale hospital because of issues with staffing what would be a fifth site for them.

And to top it all a couple of good friends of ours have got it now - Both relatively healthy although he is a bit overweight, she is coming to the end of it and he is a week behind. She just called to tell the missus about it and said she thought she was dying and she isn't a drama queen, she's worried for her husband.

I think we're already seeing the problem of people being labelled "idiot anti vaxers" when many just have legitimate concerns about a vaccine for something that (in their age group) has a tiny chance of killing them. Many of these people have had many vaccinations in the past but just aren't keen to have this one.
As usual, the narrative of "idiot anti vaxer" will send people the other way and they'll dig their heels in even more.
I firmly believe those who oppose having the vaccine should be given the chance to debate it against those who are pro vaccine, on tv etc, so everyone can make their own mind up. I'm dubious about the current idea of "censoring anti vaxers" on social media, as its not an "all or nothing" thing. Many pro vaccine people, who have had many vaccines over the years, simply don't want this one.
Let them speak in the media, debate with them, that's the best way to arrive at the truth IMO. Censoring increases suspicion.
