Lots of, probably nonsense rumours about Sam Johnstone coming back, may not be an awful idea, but he never looked too solid at this level, preferred the Prem where crosses were less common.

Thankfully, probably nonsense.

I would be all over SJ returning. Think he often got a rough time from our fans.

Behind Foster the best we've had in my time supporting us. Better than Hoult for me.

I wouldn't want him back. If we're after a new keeper (probably nonsense as you say) we need to be able to do better.

Fuckin ell.

If we are after a keeper would it be to go straight into the first team or would it be as back-up to Griffiths? With the added bonus of being able to save a shot if required to do so?

Maybe if we played all our games behind closed doors again.

This is Villa bait Shirley?

That's the big question really. Johnstone on a year's loan so Griffiths isn't in the firing line, may not be an awful idea, towards end of season start making Griffiths number 1 unless Johnstone proves to be too good and hopefully Griffiths learns from him. Problem is, their weaknesses are similar, communication and confidence at owning their area

In his seasons with us he was consistently one of the best goalkeepers around for sweeping actions and his distribution was always superb. 2 things our keeper would need to be competent at now with us pressing a bit higher and playing from the keeper.

His career has gone downhill in the last 18 months it must be said but is still young for a keeper and could be a shrewd signing if we could bin Wildsmith off.

Isn’t he 33?

Stating he was better than Hoult is the most far fetched thing I think I’ve ever heard on here!

I don't think Johnstone was awful but as Birdy says we're in a league now where his weaknesses would be more exposed than when we were in the PL.
