It's a no from me. His brand of ultra defensive football would have the purists scratching out their own eyeballs. Nice guy and all that, could be successful in the right environment, but I'd prefer someone with a bit more of a playing style. He and his family are based locally so that might be why he would have an interest. (If that isn't enough for you, his family are all villa fans as well)!
Edit; I'm sure KRO can vouch for what Bluenoses thought of his unadventurous approach.

Blues were doing ok with Eustace then they decided they needed to be more ‘exciting’ and they got worse after he left to the point they were relegated.

They were doing just fine, as are Blackburn now. But if you thought Carlos' football was boring I wouldn't expect you to be thrilled with Eustace. Very effective manager though at this level. and deserving of a chance at a club that could go that step further. I just don't fancy that football but I could guess his local links may have as much to do with it as anything.
The football was often turgid. Especially from Dec 2022 to the end of that season. Loads wanted him gone after barely getting out of our half at Norwich away and he knew he was getting sacked so let the shackles off against Huddersfield and yourselves on the Friday that put us 6th. He knew he was gone and his reaction towards the directors area showed that.
Sacking Eustace wasn’t the problem. Appointing Rooney and Uncle Tony getting ill was. We’re a league below and I wouldn’t swap Chris Davies for Eustace ever.

After all the money you've spent I could get you promoted this season. The fact that Chris Davies is scraping through really doesn't say much about his abilities at this point. I'll judge him next season IF you get promoted

Scraping through?
We’re averaging 2.4 points per game. Have won 21 out of 28 in all competitions with a new manager managing a team pieced together over a pre season and implementing a new style of play. And after being told that we wouldn’t buy our way out of this league, we’d be in for a shock like bigger clubs previously, would get bullied off the pitch, wouldn’t be able to dominate possession on winter pitches etc.
We had to spend because so many loans and out of contract players needing replacing.
We’re on course to break the EFL points record. I reckon he’s done fine, and better than plenty would have

RE: The managerial shortlist - tHEgLASSdOORS - 12-28-2024

Fair few of my Blues mates find it boring but hard to judge him until next season really. As you say, winning plenty for now

RE: The managerial shortlist - KRO - 12-28-2024

Tbf some people are finding it boring as we’re having 70-80% of the ball against teams showing no intent to win the game or at times even draw it.
We’re managing games well a lot of the time, especially in this period of 5 games in 12 days.
And we’ve won 12 away games before the end of December. That’s 4 years worth for us the last few years. Plus 8 wins on the bounce in all competitions with. You may as well just enjoy it

RE: The managerial shortlist - Dumbo - 12-28-2024

Chris Davies is getting promotion at all costs. That’s his target. Failure to do so and he knows he’s getting replaced. Blues fans won’t moan, but it’s causing discontent in the academy…but that’s a story for another day.

RE: The managerial shortlist - KRO - 12-28-2024

Dunno if you know someone in the academy but there’s been issues there before this season.

Aye all fair comment

Absolutely. My bluenose mate is loving it. Doesn't care a jot about style, possession, xg, or anything else. I don't get the modern football fan that wants it all and has no grasp of reality.

Schumacher: absolute bin fire. These players need discipline, not a new mate. In any case his race  Wink is run at this level imo.

Several Stokies I know would have SS back in a flash and reckon he was sacked far too soon

I’ve read the same on Twitter. They were even chanting his name at Wednesday away the other week. I found Schumacher’s sacking and Pelach’s appointment bizarre, similar to Blues getting rid of Eustace for Rooney. The man responsible for that decision at Stoke: Jon Walters, former player turned sporting director…

Yes, scraping through. The arrogance of a large proportion of your fans was that you were going to batter everyone, when you haven't won a single league game by more than 2 goals, and the majority have been victories by one goal. I think it's ridiculous to say the football under Eustace was turgid as if you're smashing teams left right and centre when you haven't scored more than 2 goals in a league game for over 2 months.

Ultimately results are what matters, but it's comparing apples and oranges when it comes to Eustace vs Davies when one was getting results against the likes of Leeds United 1-0 and the other one is being pat on the back for beating Crawley Town 1-0.
