Problem is with the field set so deep, Stokes has to hit a six or take the single late in the over. 6 or 1.

To even get to under 100 after the taterings we've had on 2 days of this test is good going. I don't regret saying stokes has been shit for ages - he has but when he's in the mood there's no one in world cricket like him. Angry stokes > arrogant stokes

Absolutely this and worse than a mankad. With a mankad, the batter is stealing yards so looking to gain an advantage. There was no advantage being sought here.
Bairstow may have provided him with the opportunity so has to look at himself, however, it's a shit way of playing and I can see why he wouldn't have expected it.

For all my moaning, and I feel all my comments are still justified about how ridiculous we've played over two Test, this is an incredible performance today. Superb watch. We'll probably go on to lose, but we've played sensible then played aggressive when the match situation has dictated. It's how we should bat. Shame it's come far too late, but at least it's enjoyable.
