RE: Takeover - Derek Hardballs - 01-07-2024 The idea as I’ve said many many many times that we can live within our means as a club in the Championship and compete with those clubs with parachute payments is very wishful thinking. No, because we’d still have to rent it on arms length which, whilst exempt from FFP, still means paying out to rent it each year from the owner. It just shifts the problem. Correct - and that’s exactly what other clubs were saying about us when we had parachute funding The fact that Luton and Brentford got up without any (as I think did Leeds) does give some hope though. I predict that FFP will soon change. Owners will be able to inject as much money as they want over and above a certain limit, but solely as equity, not debt. The risk is then entirely theirs, not the club’s. They want a big return in the academy.........look at the NFL they put alot of money in the college system then expect big returns on it
RE: Takeover - Bob Fossil - 01-07-2024 Well, it’s gone from a guaranteed firesale to we may bring one or two on loan. No-one on here truly knows as much as they profess to. The future is looking brighter whatever happens so hope we win today and get new owners in the week. Whether you want a separate company owning the training facilities is another matter.... RE: Takeover - CaptainFantastico - 01-07-2024 The education centre and some of the facilities are yes. |
