RE: Heggebø - Baggeridgebaggy - 09-14-2025

Worryingly limited contribution yesterday and his worst performance to date

He’s looking like a poor signing at this stage & def overpaid for him. I got criticised for saying strikers need to do far more than just hold the ball up - without goals from the only striker there is no where to go

We haven’t made it easy by selling our most creative forward player and playing a RB who can’t cross the ball but it’s more than that - he just doesn’t like he’s going to score

I think this is a bit extreme - Heggebø isn’t going to be prolific, but he’s not being helped by us having so few options up there. If you have Bany, Maja, Dike, Grant available there’s a lot more potential for his work to be better utilised.

I agree it’s a shame we finally have someone who can win a header in the box just as we sell Fellows. Not replacing Tom really is going to be the big failing of our window IMO.

Needs to add gaols to his game

Now this is just an idea, and I fully expect to be ridiculed for expressing it but - - - -

Could we play the right-footed Johnston on the right wing and the left-footed Illing-Junior on the left wing and ask them to go outside their full backs and cross the ball?

Seriously though, I think the obsession with "inverted wingers" is one of the most ridiculous features of football coaching these days.

RE: Heggebø - Baggeridgebaggy - 09-14-2025

If you take the features of his game the concern is whether he has enough strengths to make an impact at this level

He's not a shooter or a good striker of the ball. Seen a few times where he doesn't get a shot off or strike the ball cleanly . Doesn't win much in the air and hasn't got pace

Plays with his back to goal & we've seen him hold the ball up link play well but yesterday he didn't do that well. Lost it in possession quite a few times. But stand out issue is that he never looks like scoring

RE: Heggebø - Josh1873 - 09-14-2025

Why the push to move MJ out of position? He's had a good start to the season on the left hand side, and he was our best outlet yesterday. It's obviously his strongest position. Just because he's right footed doesn't necessarily mean he will be comfortable playing on the right hand side.

I've no issue with inverted wingers. My issue is when they are one dimensional in terms of not being able to use their weaker foot to cross the ball. You lose out on good chances by having to cut back onto your favoured foot rather than getting a good early cross in.

Wallace also had a great game away at Stoke, and wasn't awful by any means yesterday. I'd leave the starting line up as it is for now. However, I do think when you bring LIJ on it needs to be on the left.

Give me a striker who scores and does fuck all else over a good egg who works his bollocks off and doesn't look like scoring.

Hopefully he'll find his rhythm, but right now, why did we pay so much??

Agree. I'd sacrifice some of the hold up play for an occasional goal. Oh for a fit Daryl Dike.

RE: Heggebø - Derek Hardballs - 09-14-2025

Wow, how quickly some turn.

RE: Heggebø - Jacko - 09-14-2025

Agree with Derek, it's his first average performance, he didn't even play badly just came up against a very canny operator at this level and didn't get the protection he needed from another fast tracked ref.

I said the other week he'd need to keep the goals coming to keep people off his back. He's now 1 in 6, with games coming up against sides that won't just sit in against us, should get more opportunities.
