No he is isn't. He's in the latter part of his 20s and has played little more than 100 games. I'd suggest he's a poor man's Martin Kelly in terms of his general career path. Not a player I'd want blocking Taylor's opportunity for regular first team football.

Experience isn't as simple as "Appearances". He spent a year on loan at Stuttgart playing 20 game in the Bundesliga in his early 20's, he's had 3 or 4 loan spells across top of the championship often for half a season at a time and has always been the go to man to cover in dire emergencies for Liverpool when their collections of 50 million quid defenders were getting inured and has also whilst spending lots of time warming their bench over the years.

Harry Darling is a player I’d really like us to prioritise - just for his ability to play the ball out from the back. As we saw with Holgate, that skill can be really useful when trying to break down a stubborn defence.  I assume however there will be much richer clubs sniffing on a free.

Agree... A real pick of the freebies.

I'm afraid your rather mistaken here with a lot of this. He had one spell in the Liverpool side during the Covid season when they were decimated by injury and were reduced to playing him and that lad who had been on loan at Kiddy Harriers at the back. He's made 2 league appearances in the intervening 4 years. Not exactly what I'd class as the 'go to man' in an emergency or any other scenario.

As for his last 2 loan spells, he's been kicking round the bottom of the Champ with Cardiff and Derby. He's a classic example of 'he played for Big Club X so he must be good'. Ultimately he's played relatively little football in his professional career for a bloke of his age and most of that has been in the second tier of leagues. He's isn't greatly experienced in either sense of number of games or playing at a high level.

Darling, Phillips, Dunne would all represent good free agent deals. I predict we will sign none of them.

Very much so - ability and leadership wise. He was also immense against us at their place this season which surely wouldnt have gone unnoticed. Not sure he would be on a huge amount at Swansea but will have a pick of clubs in the league I expect

Started 16 games for the team 2nd in Bundesliga at 22.

Dug Liverpool out a hole during COVID when they finished 3rd.

Started 17 games on loan at Bournemouth when they finished 2nd.

Played half a season at Cardiff who finished 12th, before having a tough spell at Celtic.

Then had a really good season for Derby as an individual in what was a tough year for them as a team.

Experience is more nuanced than just the headline stats, for me. He has often jumped from decent loan spell to Liverpool's bench when they've had injuries and needs to find a real home now he's coming into his prime. Would be a good midterm Bart's replacement.

Thierry Small has joined Preston on a free from Charlton after his contract expired - thought he looked tricky, fast and direct - at 20 would have been a good option for us on the left side.

Sounds like a boy band Simon Cowell would put together.

Was he not on our books as a teenager?
