Talk to me about false equivalence, go on. We have aligned ourselves with the countries BB has mentioned, but also several others he didn’t mention. Why didn’t he mention them? Perhaps because they’re occupying territories which have no prospect of self determination either.

I don't know where to start really but if you think that the examples that you give are in any way comparable to what Israel is doing in Gaza and the West Bank, then I don't think that I can say anything that will be helpful to you..

Occupation by a military force? Locking down the release of information to the outside world? Ruling out self determination? 1.2 million dead in Tibet through violence, famine, forced labour, and imprisonment?
I suspect they're far closer to equivalence than a fatuous comparison with Northern Ireland.

Hamas this, Hamas that... Barely a mention of the fact that Western governments armed Israeli forces in their bombing of Palestinian children for the last generation. It's either all off limits, or none of it is. You can't pick and choose which bombing and destruction you find more palatable in line with your political thinking/WUMing attempts.

But isn't everyone on here doing that? When was the last thread on Tibet? When did China last offer Tibet its own state? When did the western world last grandstand at the UN about Tibet?
Instead we align ourselves with China over Palestine. Our government is literally picking and choosing, not me.
