Apparently 1 of 3 candidates

just did a little research on Hake, apart from the joy of fishy jokes, his record is distinctly underwhelming.  He hasn't lasted long at any of the Dutch clubs he's managed or enjoyed any real success anywhere, with no experience of English football apart from a brief stint working as an assistant to ten Hag at Manure.  Its a no from me.

Bit of context..

He hasn't lasted long at clubs as he's ended up getting better jobs after doing a decent jobs. Spent a lot of time as assistant in early years before picking up manager roles.

Promoted from Utrecht's feeder club to Utrecht, gained them promotion then got them to seventh and European qualification the year after.
Moved to Go Ahead Eagles and spent two years there taking them into Europe for the 1st time since the 70s
Ten Haag then took him to United.

Not saying we should, but his CV ain't that bad.

Sounds like AFI.

AFI got clubs into Europe before he came to us?

He didn't coach in any Mickey Mouse Leagues. Go Ahead Eagles play to less than 10K a week. Halesowen Town would give them a game.

They're 7th in the Dutch top division.

RE: The managerial shortlist - Birdman1811 - 01-08-2025

Steve Clarke hadn't managed anyone before joining us, still the manager with the highest finishing position in the Premier League era. While playing the best football we played in this era too.

Maybe wait and see what happens with whoever comes in, we are clearly doing this properly and actually interviewing and making sure it's the right man.

Sometimes it's easier to just admit you don't know what you're talking about.

It can save a lot of embarrassment.

Don't be so hard on yourself, Duffers.

FF had to step in earlier this week to correct some of your inaccuracies...................

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who's never heard of Go Ahead Eagles?

I've heard of them, though I have watched them play Feyenoord at De Kuip.
