RE: '24 Transfer Speculation Thread - ColliersWoodBaggie - 08-29-2024 As I said elsewhere, we don't rely on strikers to get our goals. They come pretty much through the team, particularly from midfield and out wide. We scored 70 in the League last year and only 11 came from our striker, BTA. Maja (struck down) got 1. The others came from midfield and wide. I am sure similar will be the case this season, expt with a better striker than last season. Grant and Cole would be the others until Dike comes in. CC has also said Johnstone could play through the middle. RE: '24 Transfer Speculation Thread - Ted Maul - 08-29-2024 Under CC we've never played with two up front, as it is we're always looking to have a couple of options to play in one role. The chances of us finding a ready made 25 goal a season player on our budget is minimal and it would take an uncharacteristically good bit of scouting to find one from nowhere too. We have Maja who has never been particularly injury prone until he was lynched twice last season and Dike who before joining us was rarely injured. If come November we're sitting with Maja and Dike fit to play, we'd have wasted a space in the squad on another striker who in reality wouldn't have been as good or means that one of Dike (24) or Maja (25) lose a year of their development. RE: '24 Transfer Speculation Thread - baggiedave85 - 08-29-2024 Faal apparently in talks for a perm deal to Wrexham. Thought he would go on loan, surprised on a perm deal RE: '24 Transfer Speculation Thread - Sliced - 08-29-2024 Reports that Will Keane is signing a new contract at Preston after bids from us and Wrexham have been rejected RE: '24 Transfer Speculation Thread - mickeypearce - 08-29-2024 (08-29-2024, 08:01 AM)ElbowGrease1973 II Wrote:(08-29-2024, 07:35 AM)Bob Fossil Wrote:(08-29-2024, 06:58 AM)Dumbo Wrote: Understand Johnston is set to be, as things stand, the final recruit of Albion's window. That is bar any major exits and the club don't envisage that. Striker was a target but no way Corberan could look beyond a Johnston permanent return. #wba What does Blakey think? RE: '24 Transfer Speculation Thread - SausEggBaton - 11-24-2024 We're in desperate need of CB cover since McNair (goes back to San Diego in January anayway) and Ajayi is unknown return. Dike's fabled return is January also, so we probably still need one of those 20 goals Strikers/Forwards.

Taylor will presumably be recalled from his loan spell to replace McNair. I can see Wallace, Swift and possibly Diangana being shipped out in January, and wouldn’t be surprised if we terminate the Dobbin loan. That would enable quite a lot of tweaking of the squad. But the big one could well be Maja being sold. If it’s true that a couple of Spanish clubs are talking about a €17m transfer then there’s no way we’ll be turning that down, and that would see 2 or 3 new faces come in. Unfortunately, if Maja does leave you can kiss this seasons promotion chances goodbye IMVHO. I also see Wallace & Diangana leaving, and Bobbins being sent back. There are minor rumours, and very minor I must admit, that we have already reached out to a couple of "large/medium" player agencies like Unique (Grady's) and CAA (Bart's) - for who's available at CB and FW in Jan. |
