He'll be absolutely fine. A superb coach and manager.

Last season was a massive boost to his reputation that having to work with a weakened team won't impact that much.

Yes I’m sure there will be other La Liga clubs monitoring the situation, and let’s face it, even Valencia in crisis is a better job for him than us in the Championship.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on next year, I do think he is probably a coach that does his best work in a crisis, but then that could just be because he’s managed 4 clubs, 3 of them crises, and the other one had Marinakis in charges!

Valencia started the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Real Sociedad at The Mestalla on Saturday evening.

Losing one nil going into stoppage time away at Osasuna. If you get chance take a look at one of the clumsiest red cards you'll ever see by the Valencia full back Gaya.

Valencia 2 - Getafe (unbeaten) 0

Mason out!

RE: Corberan Watch - Josh1873 - 08-29-2025

What's the general expectation of Valencia this year, anyone follow La Liga closely enough to answer that?

No idea Josh but it's potentially a huge club and they should be in the top 6 were it not for the fact that the owner's near bankrupted the place and work on their "new" stadium was halted for 15 years. Otherwise, with Carlos at the helm, a shoe-in for Europe!!

I'm hoping to get to a Valencia game in the new year. The Mrs' dad has a flat over there and spends the winter there.

She doesn't know this plan, yet Big Grin

Finished 3-0. Any expectation is purely generated by what Carlos did in the latter half of last season. They've lost their goalkeeper to Liverpool (sold before last season but loaned back) and sold their best CB to Arsenal. CC has been able to spend 10m against 26m brought in (Euros). They've (so far) kept hold of Hugo Duro who has been Carlos' main forward player.

Bookies odds suggest a top 10 finish at worst, Europe would be a fantastic achievement imo. Just wish we could see what he could do with a decent budget.
