I can't call this. I really can't. I think we just about go into tomorrow as favourites. But it's tight. It can go either way.

All I know is that England will be kicking themselves massively if they don't win. We've had so many chances (dropped catches, wickets off no balls, missed-stumpings) to get on top. But it's made for a great game.

Some spell from Broad, that.

Paddy Power make us slight favourites at 10/11, with Australia 11/10 and 14/1 the draw.  Sounds about right to me.

England clear favourites.. Aussies are bricking it. Poor shot from Smith .. pivotal moment.

So much for the critics of the "early" declaration. We have a magnificent game on our hands.

What a match this is. Betfair exchange odds give the current expected win percentages:
England 48%
Australia 43%
Draw 9%

Hopefully there’ll be a decent bit of cloud cover after the morning’s rain.

I think the draw is worth a cheeky tenna. It's obviously long odds for a reason - there should be a winner, but met office forecast tells me the morning session will probably be rained off, with rain easing off between 12:00 and 13;00. I'm not sure what that means over wise, but assuming that leaves 60 overs remaining across 2 sessions Australia RRR would be 3. There could be a scenario where we take an early wicket or two, and they just end up blocking it out, and it could lead to a tense draw.

So many permutations. It's exciting.

Well, three anyway.

Tbf an extra few runs from not declaring and England would be in an even stronger position.

RE: It's The Ashes (again) - SuperBob2002 - 06-19-2023

England winning with plenty of runs to spare
England winning with late wicket drama with Aus needing a handful of runs to win.
Aus winning with plenty of runs to spare.
Aus winning with 1 wicket remaining.
Aus blocking out for a draw.
Wash out.

All the above could happen.

RE: It's The Ashes (again) - CA Baggie - 06-19-2023

Or a tie.

We (almost) all want England to win, but without sounding too corny, the biggest winner is the boost a game like this gives to red ball cricket.

We have probably 2 sessions left, 60-75 overs with an extension, and every result genuinely possible.

Gutted I can’t make another day of it at Edgbaston.
