Well done Beijing, I did notice your impressive weekly numbers!

RE: Running Clique - Ted Maul - 06-29-2022

Now onto week four of no running. Autumn marathon block couldn't have got off to a much worse start. I've been cross training to try and keep some residual fitness, but with every passing day it looks like pushing back to a spring marathon is more and more likely. Trust me to get injured the nicest time of the year to be outside running.

That's rubbish pal.

I'm on holiday next week, so planning on taking my runners to just keep myself ticking over. Not managed a 10k this month at all which is a bit disappointing but life has just got in the way.

Think I need a week or two before I’m anywhere near fit to run again!

It absolutely is rubbish and my wife will attest to the fact it makes me even more of a grumpy prick than normal.

A spring (potentially Seville) marathon wouldn't be the end of the world, but really frustrating to spend 6 months flying and fit as ever only to break down when the really serious work was due to start having got myself in the shape to have a genuine crack at a Boston qualifying time. C'est la via, I suppose.

My Huawei watch has nearly bitten the dust. What do you lot use? Any recommendations?

I've got a Garmin Forerunner 245.

I bought a reconditioned one for £100 with a 12 month warrantee. It was either from an Amazon or eBay shop.

Had only planned to use it for a year to see how I got on, but nearly 3 years on, it has been very reliable.

Has the occasion issue finding GPS, but I think that's more down to my location.

Although, I'm tempted to trade up for one that can download GPX files so I can test out new routes when I'm away.

I use a pretty entry level Garmin 235, it doesn't do music or anything fancy but has all the functionality that you'd want.

I'm tempted by a Coros one when mine needs updating.

Also, I'm still not running.

I've got the 645 Music to replace an old Forerunner 45. I've had it since the summer of 2019 and it's still going.

I sometimes create routes via mapmyrun or scrape .gpx files from trailforks etc. Download them and then email them to myself. Then open with my phone which automatically opens the said route within my Garmin Connect app and from there, I'm able to send the route to my watch and use it for navigation.  Pretty sure you can still do that with a 245.

RE: Running Clique - Duffers - 07-17-2022

Think running is well and truly out for the next few days. Did a few 5k’s last week at 7-8 in the morning and they were already a nightmare due to the heat. Gonna be about ten degrees hotter next few days.

Fuck that!
