Aside from that I see nothing too wrong with the squad. Crawley is awful (scored no runs and was out so cheaply in both innings v Bears) and should have been replaced with Bairstow with Fowkes remaining as the WK. But that's my only gripe, really.

I can't see how England selectors see Crawley as a better option than Sam Hain? Admittedly I'm biased being a Bear, but Hain deserves a chance at an England call up.

Probably because he's South African Big Grin

Robinson injury a worry, he’s been superb in English conditions

RE: It's The Ashes (again) - Ted Maul - 05-21-2023

Can't help but feel this will be another summer where we rue missed opportunities to prepare properly for an Ashes.

Australia have Smith, Labuschagne etc playing county cricket whilst Stokes, Root, Archer have been playing pyjama cricket and trying (and failing) to avoid injury in the IPL. Makes absolutely no sense.

Don't even get me started on dropping your best wicket keeper so that you can stick with one of the worst opening bats I've seen play for England. You watch creepy get some runs against Ireland and keep his spot all summer. His constant selection the only black mark on the Stokes-McCullum era so far.

Richard Blakey has to be the worst opening bat for England.  The Yorkie twat

Hard to say, he wasn't given 30 tests to prove himself.

The early optimism has turned to a disaster of a preparation already before a balls even close to being bowled

Spot on. Our preparation has been consistently terrible for 20 years, or since we overplayed test matches after the 2005 ashes and went to Oz with a ton of injuries and a makeshift captain. Shooting ourselves in the foot yet again.

RE: It's The Ashes (again) - Cheshire East Baggie - 06-04-2023

Vaughan spent the Ireland Test pointing out that if Stokes can't bowl it will be really important for Leach to hold an end up like Swanny used to do.

BBC headline earlier today "Ashes 2023: England in best possible shape for Australia series"

BBC headline just now "The Ashes: England spinner Jack Leach ruled out of Australia series"

Well, it's going to be interesting, to say the least.
