I think you may have misread my post. I wasn't suggesting that you would have a knee jerk reaction, I suggested that the PM didn't take one.

And I'm saying he's come across as an idiot, and idiots running countries isn't reassuring to the markets, to investors or to other countries.

The market suggests otherwise.

You say this the week of the FTSE 250 and FTSE 100 trending downwards in reversal of their recent trends? Seriously?

Are you really taking a week, where there has been instability, as a measure of your proof or mine?

RE: Mandelson - Jacko - 02-08-2026

Go easy on B1. Starmer and Labour are just getting all the bad/unpopular stuff out of the way early in the parliament  Wink

Stability does not come from constant U-turns nor from a Chancellor who misleads whole sectors of business in a Budget and disincentivises anything that might produce growth.

You say "stability", I say "managed decline". No one voted for that.

I do love the new Proth, very dissimilar from the old Proth who was shouting that “whomever shallst inherit the keys to teh kingdom shallst inherit a shitshoweth” - The managed decline started years ago with austerity (please try not to post about the GFC now).

The week where all this crap started? Yes, especially as it goes against the recent trend for both indexes and the pound hasn't dropped Vs the dollar.

RE: Mandelson - baggy1 - 02-08-2026

So you agree that instability is bad for the markets then. What do you think a leadership contest will do?

RE: Mandelson - Borin' Baggie - 02-09-2026

If Labour actually have someone competent then bring some stability and ensure we're not staring down a barrel in 2029.

RE: Mandelson - baggy1 - 02-09-2026

And here we are back to square 1 - can you tell me who that is?

RE: Mandelson - Borin' Baggie - 02-09-2026

You're the one who backs Labour B1, it's very concerning as to the level of talent within the party that you cannot name anyone that carries the same agenda but isn't extremely error strewn like Starmer has been.
