I'd love to know who these people are 'with the broadest shoulders' are. They've already introduced a 'wealth tax' where they will actually tax all of the richest's wealth when it can be measured.

New taxes will fall on the middle class, as they always do in this country.

You would have to ask Mr Pastry, it was a quote from one of the many Starmer incarnations.

You didn’t comment on the wealth tax

It'd been uncomfortable watching Rachel over the year. Repeating myself really from a year ago but she has constantly talked about growth and government being used as lever for growth, yet has done almost nothing to promote growth.

A fantasist really, just wishing things will happen. Crossing fingers and legs isnt a very good economic or political strategy.

I see that the NI hikes and wage rises have seen the National Trust announce they are cutting 500 jobs.

RE: Growth - Protheroe - 07-13-2025

I read today that the same party that is “laser focused” on growth and wishes to build 1.5 million homes by the end of the Parliament is about to end house builders exemption from full Landfill Tax. You literally can’t make this shit up.

Rachel is doing her thing again
Inflation 3.6%

RE: Growth - Protheroe - 07-16-2025

There was nothing of substance whatsoever in her Mansion House speech last night that might encourage growth or investment.

This government is strangling itself with its own timidity, rather like the last one did. Reeves is just Sunak in a trouser suit.

And I'd be amazed if we don't have another Bond Tantrum before Christmas.
