I like Forss, but he was utter crap at Hull last season, seems he may have been a bit of a flash in the pan for 6 months at Brentford

Why?

If your squad is heavily populated with older players or you’re overly reliant on older players, then I believe we’d be in trouble. But adding 1 or 2 more experienced pro’s is needed sometimes.

See SKP and Bobby Taylor. Gayle or Grabban could be that man this year.

How many would there have to be before you regarded the squad as overly reliant on older players? 5? 7? 10?

There’s a balance to be found.

If for example we are paying a million quid and paying 50-60k a week for Gareth Barry, it’s a crap signing… if we are bringing Grabban in on a 1 year deal with an average Championship salary, then it’s a sensible signing.

It’s the handing out of 3 year deals, or paying peak fees for players at the top of their value, or worse, beyond it that’s a problem.

Next summer - regardless of division / budget - will be our opportunity to reduce the squad ahead with Jake, Bartley and Zohore leaving. Aside from those two and Phillips, we have no outfield players over 30 and our current starting XI is likely to be on average about 25 years old.

After the signing of the striker from Bordeaux, Mara, it seems Saints have bud £20mill for Liam Delap.

Where does that leaves Adam Armstrong?

Out of our price range? Big Grin

If we could get Armstrong there would be absolutely zero excuses to not be in the top 2 IMO.

Cyrus Christie has been released from Fulham, very tidy RB at this level and would be decent cover/comp for Furlong.

We really need to get Robinson and ideally Bartley out of the door asap.

Robinson -yes.

Zohore too.

Bartley - no. We need another CB as well as KB. Perhaps Taylor may step up after his loan.

Also need cover at RB. LB is fine with Conor and Reach.
