I think we need another midfielder too. A proper defensive midfielder, someone with energy (Molumby, Mowatt, TGH) to carry the ball forward and Swift/Wallace would make for one of the most balanced midfields in the league and would have genuine quality. He's one of if not the best in the league when allowed to just do the simple stuff. Hes just not an 8 or a 10 like he has tried to be at times. That's one of the reasons he picks up so many stupid bookings. IMO, that's only when he has to run the whole show on his own, something he cannot do, and tries too hard. with better ball players around to give him an option, Jake does just fine as the defensive midfielder. I wouldn't rule out playing him as a third CB on occasion either, just not one of two. RE: Summer Transfer Window Thread - SW4Baggie - 05-31-2022 (05-31-2022, 03:42 PM)Tom Joad Wrote:Borin' Baggie Wrote:Lurker#3 Wrote:Borin' Baggie Wrote:Dumbo Wrote:Yep. I think we need another midfielder too. A specialist sitter (In the Yok or Yac mould) Agree here - If Livermore is played in a midfield 3, with the role to shield he's an excellent Championship option, but his mobility is too poor to play in a 2, as it has been for 2-3 years now, and this is what has led to his rash challenges and reds. Problem is, we need to play quite a defensive 4141 to accommodate him, or play a 433 which doesn't suit the players we have. If we're starting with Molumby and Mowatt as our two central midfielders and Swift just ahead, I think that's more than good enough, and Livermore as an option on the bench should we need to shore it up. It's just whether we think TGH is going to be used as backup in midfield, or whether we need another? Look at the difference when Yokuslu arrived and showed you how a holding midfielder should play. Nothing against Jake, he’s been a good servant and a decent player. I think we can do better. Its the creative side and putting the ball in the net that are our issues. Thats where our transfer business needs to be done. If theres money left for a 'Yokuslu' then great. |
