RE: UK Covid death toll - Ted Maul - 03-15-2021 What on earth is going on in Europe with the vaccine rollout? Denmark, Germany, Italy and now the Netherlands refusing to use the AZ vaccine due to fears over blood clotting despite the facts and figures put out by AZ themselves over the weekend. These countries seem to be shooting themselves in the foot massively. Denmark, Germany, Italy and now the Netherlands refusing to use the AZ vaccine due to fears over blood clotting despite the facts and figures put out by AZ themselves over the weekend. I was thinking this Ted, I'll see if there is any other information out there about this but at 1st glance it appears that there is no increased risk of blood clots over the normal population expectation. 1st I heard about it was the woman in the waiting area after my jab on Friday asking the volunteer helper why there wasn't more information being dished out to the patients about the risk, I had a look when I got home but have seen nothing beyond normal figures. If you consider that 11M plus in the UK have had the Oxford jab and there appear to be about 50 people worldwide with this it seems an incredibly low chance. RE: UK Covid death toll - baggy1 - 03-15-2021 Netherlands has also now suspended use, it appears to be madness. The normal incidence of blood clots in the general population is 1 in 1000 annually, and there have been 40 cases after 17M doses administered. The next bit is guesswork to calculate an equivalent so if i've got this wrong, apologies. We've had 17M doses in (rounded down) 2 months with 40 cases so times 40 by 6 to get to a 12 month equivalent and we have 240 cases in 17,000,000 which equates to about 1 in every 70,000 incidence compared with 1 in 1000 normally. Someone tell me if I've got that wrong but it seems madness to stop based on that. RE: UK Covid death toll - Ossian - 03-15-2021 Inevitably some people who have recently had the vaccine will be taken ill; just as they most likely would have been if they were still waiting for their turn. The idea that every ailment in the few months post-vaccine is directly related to having had the jab is so illogical that you'd wonder why it gains any traction at all. People surely understand that they're not being inoculated against Covid plus everything else as well for a while. RE: UK Covid death toll - Ted Maul - 03-15-2021 Covid and extended lockdowns through slow vaccinations will kill more people than vaccines themselves. It seems entirely political against AZ. If my maths are right - Normal incidence is 1 in a 1000 or 0.1% - 40 in 17m is 0.0002% incidence and unless many more cases happen then it will stay at 0.0002% - Excuse my scepticism but there seems to have been an ongoing effort to discredit AZ Edit could be wrong B1 but you appear to have multiplied the number of incidences by 6 but not the number of injections RE: UK Covid death toll - baggy1 - 03-15-2021 (03-15-2021, 10:50 AM)strawman Wrote:(03-15-2021, 09:35 AM)baggy1 Wrote: Netherlands has also now suspended use, it appears to be madness. Good shout SM, they were big numbers It really does appear to be some sort of politicking going on, almost like they are covering their own arses after completely fucking up the orders. RE: UK Covid death toll - richbaggie - 03-15-2021 Worryingly it puts seed of doubt into those that are wary of having the jab. Not me, get the bloody thing in me. I've put far worse shit into my body in my lifetime! Same here Rich - i dropped some acid in the 90s on a Saturday night and tried to play football on the Sunday afternoon and was still all over the place. I took the jab on Friday lunchtime and was fine by Saturday afternoon after the shivers, and being hot and cold overnight and a hangover headache. These days my hangovers last two days so this was a doddle. I don't think it is politicking. France hasn't suspended it's use and they're the ones who sowed the doubt in the first place due to the stupid comments from Macron. And Iceland and Norway have suspended it. |
