We have been spanked and put to bed now under root and a cook before hand playing conventional, boring and predictable cricket. With a fully firing, Jimmy & Broad etc.
Now with our new approach, we have pushed the best test team in the world to wire on each and every test if the series and if we were to win this test the only thing that's stopped us regain the urn is the wonderful Manchester weather.
Keep it up, keep backing the batters to go big and early and work out the bowling attack, then go again .

We were probably 50 shy yesterday of a good score, Aussies come out to bat and it brightens up, typical
I don't give a hoot in the main for The Hundred, IPL, T20 I'm a test advocate and will quite happily watch 5 days play for a gripping draw yet this style of cricket, in test cricket, is different, entertaining and in the main has been stupidly successful, it's only a matter of time before we see all the rest adopting aspects of it
Whilst we have it, just roll with it, we shall win way more than we lose I'd wager
We're what? Fifth best test team in the world on paper? Therefore punching massively above our weight

And hey, for all the negative nellies, a lot of this squad are pretty old. They only have to deal with this approach for another few years before we go back to boring boring England, and scrapping draws in the Windies before losing the series.

Bowling stock is knocking on but the batting line-up is pretty fresh.
Crawley, Ducket, Pope, Root, Brook, Stokes, Bairstow - on current form and given their ages I'd expect all of them to be in or around the team by the time the Australians are next here in 2027.

The dilemma(?) for England now though is that they have effectively only 10 players and no suitable candidate to bat 3 or bowl spin. Ali's injury could bethe major factor in all this. Be interesting to see who takes up the 1st down spot when England come to bat again.

I'm seeing a load of nonsense on the BBC feed calling Australia boring. Presumably idiots that only want to watch sixes. It's called Test cricket. It's how it's been played for over a hundred years. And guess what? It's winning cricket. I know which cricket team I'd rather be watching.
I wish these folks would sod off and stick to the Hundred rather than criticise the beauty of Test cricket.
