RE: UK Covid death toll - Brentbaggie - 02-18-2021 A friend has already got his second date confirmed but not me or the missus. He got jabbed before us and is older too. RE: UK Covid death toll - Ossian - 02-18-2021 I was given a card recording the date of my first shot and which vaccine I'd been given. There was no precise date arranged for the follow-up shot, but I was told I'd be contacted by the GP mid/late May, which roughly equated to 10-12 weeks, depending on the eventual date. Edit: In almost everything they've done I regard this government as beyond useless, but in terms of the vaccination roll-out they seem to be getting a lot more right than wrong and when they do have to make adjustments on the hoof they seem to be listening to input from informed sources. RE: UK Covid death toll - strawman - 02-18-2021 (02-18-2021, 05:55 PM)baggy1 Wrote: This is where I've got my concerns sm - if some surgeries stretch it to the 12 weeks then there is no room for error and then does that person have to be done again. It doesn't seem as organised as it should be. I have a reminder to phone them 2 weeks before due The WHO have recently stated that ideally the 2 doses (of the Oxford vaccine - which is the one I had) should be given between 8 and 12 weeks apart based on recent research. "]In a briefing today, the chairman of the WHO's advisory group, Dr Alejandro Cravioto, said a longer gap is "associated with greater vaccine efficacy" and will reach more people. Cravioto said the two doses should be given 4 to 12 weeks apart, ideally between 8 and 12 weeks apart, for best protection from the disease." RE: UK Covid death toll - baggy1 - 02-18-2021 Cheers chaps, that gives me more confidence and Oss is correct, the vaccine rollout has been great. They are leaving up to the experts in public health and the NHS instead of farming it out to that Uber efficient private sector aren’t they? RE: UK Covid death toll - JOK - 02-19-2021 We had our next appointment given to us during the 10 minute wait after the jab. I was very impressed with the organisation and efficiency of the whole exercise. Though a little bemused when eight days after having the jab we both received a letter (in a window envelope containing a one page letter, a two page translation sheet into 12 languages and a glossy leaflet) asking us to book our First appointment! So, logistically excellent, clerically no so much. Hats off too to all the volunteers who are helping it run so smoothly. RE: UK Covid death toll - richbaggie - 02-20-2021 So what do you want to see on Monday from the bumbling buffoon? Personally I want to see a focus on ways that we can start to open up that concentrate on mental health whilst still taking a safe measured approach. More opportunities for exercise outdoors (such as sport and fitness classes like bootcamps. Bubbles being expanded to allow 2 households to mix which will allow grandparents to see grandkids. That, along with schools opening will help huge swathes massively. See what effect that has after 3 weeks and then open up more. I know loads taking no notice of not seeing their grandkids they simply refuse to comply.... The school issue is really a hard balance...... One out break and its back to square one..... Do the teachers and see where we go from there. Open the pubs Boris you big blonde oaf RE: UK Covid death toll - Derek Hardballs - 02-20-2021 Open the schools fully and watch yet another spike in cases. Every time we get the situation under control there is a headlong rush to unlock way beyond common sense, let alone the science. RE: UK Covid death toll - The liquidator - 02-20-2021 I really don't blame the government for being careful on this they have had their fingers burnt on this before trying to be popular..... |
