Unless you work for Liverpool.

Greed league at its finest!  Angry
Tricky one, the football wages question.

The government furloughing scheme is right for many clubs, especially as the game has an unclear cash flow position until normality kicks back in. Which it will.
It's morally wrong, and I'm against it, but the Sky years have meant that football is a business, and these clubs are applying the same rules that other large businesses have used. If Jeremy Peace was still in charge, I reckon we'd have been one of the first clubs to apply for it.

I'd like to see FFP rules relaxed during this period. If a club has a wealthy owner that is willing to subsidise wages of all employees from their own pocket, then they should be allowed to.
I see that the PFA have waded in with a load of bollocks - saying that cutting a Premier League players wages by 30% would mean they pay less tax and as that tax is used to fund the NHS this would be detrimental to the NHS !
If the PFA are so concerned about this loss of tax to the exchequer (and therefore the NHS) why doesn’t the PFA just suggest that clubs continue paying their pampered multimillionaire players as normal so no tax is lost for funding the NHS, but then redistribute 30% of their NET pay to where it’s needed.
These kind of crass statements by the PFA show exactly what is wrong with modern football.

Crazy idea! Why don't we just give them all our money? That way the NHS would get more money because it wouldn't lose out on our selfish tax-free personal allowance. The players would be doing their bit and the NHS would get more money. Simple!

In all fairness, you've got to admire the front of the PFA to come out with this argument! Surely better to say nothing...
Perhaps both the government and other footballers should take a leaf out of what James McClean has done .

It was a thankful doctor at Altnagelvin hospital who revealed McClean had donated kit to the under-pressure staff. It led to the Republic of Ireland international being quizzed about his good deed, but to him it was about remembering where he's from.

"I was going through Facebook and saw a post asking for help," said McClean. "I just typed into Google to see what I could get and was fortunate to find equipment."

He immediately purchased around 400 pairs of gloves, 100 face masks, protective visors, 10 hand sanitisers and over 100 gowns.

He added: "It's not going to solve all the problems but hopefully it can tide them over. It begs the question if I'm able to go online why can't the authorities supply enough equipment?"

Perhaps the government should phone Amazon, then maybe the hospitals will get there essential equipment quicker.
Now I’m not a huge McClean fan but he does do some wonderful things for charity. As for those Facebook and Twitter morons who wished his family would catch and die, of the Coronavirus they are the real culprits who need finding and sorting out.

This. McClean is a good lad. He is just terminally simple in the head.

Did he wear his balaclava when he delivered em?
Quite a few of the eccentric characters in the game have a sense of right and wrong, they will go the extra mile for the cause. Something the cheats and disrespectful guys will never have.
