Come on...the odds were always on that it was going to happen. It didn't mean your 'scource' had any more knowledge than the rest of us.

Now if he/she can tell us when there will be mass availability of antibody testing or how vaccine research is going, I'd be more impressed

I can tell you the anti malaria drug they have in France is being trialed on the sick now. Still being evaluated as to its success rate. They have stocks to treat 300,000 patients. Have heard nowt from the UK tbh.

Shouldn't the government have imposed stricter measures in London 2 weeks ago?

Maybe we should have heeded the lesson of Eyam.

IMO until people are tested, you must assume everyone has it, or they soon will. We should be testing a million a week, it would still take over a year to check everyone. Fkn 10,000 a week is crazy. You may as well not bother to little to late.

How exactly are we supposed to test a million people a week? Do you honestly think the NHS has the finances, resources and staff for such an undertaking on top of everything else that is going on?

People need to engage brains instead of getting hysterical.

If you do live in Chasetown, CB then the West Midlands is the second highest infected area in the country. I’m still seeing kids on bikes in places like Heath Hayes hanging out like it’s a normal school fugging holiday. Irresponsible parents who until yesterday I imagine were going to pub every flipping night and putting their neighbours, relatives and friends at risk.

You could do this if people have self testing kits and some way of uploading results to a database. Not going to happen yet but they are trialling the test.

You need to get off your horse and think about solutions,  we can't do this that and the other are of no use to anyone. Get the police to test them like they do with a breathalyser, come on duffers your better then that.
125,000 police 10 each a day that's how you do it.

I do live there, Derek. I nipped to supermarket last night and also thought there were more kids out than usual - guess it was the 'school's out' effect (and tbf, there is no lockdown yet and instructions only to avoid 'large' gatherings) But my point is that until there is a confirmed case in the local community why should businesses and schools be forced to close. Government have the data and the NHS will know where the cases are. If there was a confirmed case here in Burntwood, I'd be the first to advocate taking stringent measures here.
Why blame others for their actions or lack of them. How hard is it to understand "keep away from people as much as possible" The pricks standing in queues inches from people for their 100th bog roll will blame everyone else for their illness. When have the government needed to ban people from playing blind man's bluff on a motorway ffs.

Because once someone is confirmed it means they have been unknowingly walking round infecting people for up to 2 weeks

In France this morning the police are questioning anybody with more then one person in a car, unwritten law that only one person per car unless a valid reason. Only 1 person per shopping trolly and 1 metre apart. Police at all supermarkets on patrol. Social distancing inforcement.

In that case, logically,  we should have banned all international travel about 6 weeks ago.

Again, the police have their own priorities ensuring that the country doesn’t collapse while this is happening.

Testing millions of people is pointless anyway. If I test negatively today it doesn’t mean I won’t get it next week.

Enforcement because they can't or won't commit to these sensible countermeasures without orders. The powers that be have enough to sort out without having to worry about knobs going round licking each other en masse. They'd assume that these things would happen as a matter of common sense.
