The home leg in '93 is unquestionably one of the all time occasions at The Hawthorns.

But who was at the Vetch a few days earlier?

Shit ground, terrible weather, and packed in like sardines under the roof that covered only part of the away terrace.

Thank you, Daryl. You made it possible.

Yep and it was looking grim until Burgess stepped up.

Remember all the little chavvy Taffs giving it large post game - if only we could have met up after the 2nd leg
I was. Stood next to Frank Skinner, who joined us on the mini bus from London, in the soaking wet.
We weren't very good that day it has to be said and you're right, Daryl (or more correctly the own goal rebound) got us out of jail.
Yep, I was there, shit drive back home, but all worth it in the end.
The fighting among the traffic leaving the ground was frisky.
Remember it well. Albion just didn't perform that day and that last gasp goal really put us right back in it. Soaking wet, not enough to drink and a one goal defeat, then some gobby chavs trying to act hard after the game. We were simply never going to lose that 2nd leg. Top memory.
That day at the Vetch was some experience. Memories are a bit fuzzy but I'm pretty sure there was some sort of protest going on at the prison. It looked like there were burning bed sheets being hung out of some cell windows and then for all hell to break loose on the bridge over the river. Great day.
Went with Black Country Albion that day. Couple of hours in the pub pre-match and then the usual Swansea (at the time) “fun” getting in and out of the Vetch. Also went in the 0-0 in the league game that season. 2 crap games from our perspective.

Went in 87 in the FACuo when we lost 3-2. We equalised late on to give them loads of stick only for them to score again, such was the way back then. I was mid-late teens and in my first season of away games without family, that one was certainly feisty. Even the Heddlu hates the English!
IIRC we arrived on the outskirts on Swansea over an hour before kick off, to be kept in a shitty industrial estate before being given a guided tour of the area by South Wales plod, finally being dropped off outside the ground at 5 to 3...this of course allowed plenty of time to get in!!!

The coach we were on then got bricked by the lovely Swans fans after the match...
One of my first games was against Swansea in the FA Cup. My over riding memory of that game was Albion fans (Smethwick vs Tipton)fighting amongst themselves. Even though we were gifted an own goal by Dudley Lewis late on we still lost.

Other visits included being called an English bastard by some urchin in a Man Utd top.

For the play off game we drank on the outskirts of Swansea and somehow managed to gate crash an end of season local rugby clubs award event which entailed free food and subsidised booze
