I suppose we were quite a glamorous team in that Atkinson era and got a few would-be glory hunters. He's from Kettering, so no real obvious local team to follow.
Weird to think over the country there's a smattering of Albion glory-hunter fans! I'd imagine many of them would have changed teams though by 86.

I saw my first game in 1982 and I've always been gutted that I missed out on our glory side of the late 70's but I'm always proud of the fact that when you tell someone you support the Albion you never get comments about being a glory hunter etc. We've had no glory to hunt!

I've only ever known varying degrees of shiteness!  Big Grin

TBF, you got some pretty bad days in early on. Big Grin

I got the good days in early on and never have seen us hit the heights as we did in my pre-pubescent days. First season saw us promoted, next 7th, 6th, 3rd, 10th and 4th.
At 15 I saw 4 league table finishes we've never attained the heights of in the 37 years since. In fact the disappointing season of 79/80 would have been one of the best.
We went from the best post war Albion side to the worst period in the club's history in a very short time.

It all fell apart the moment Atkinson left and took Robbo with him we nosed dived quicker than any fuggin Stuka after that and with the short-sightedness and incompetence of the board of the time it was only ever going to end oneway, which it did and unfortunately for us it took a pittyfully long fuggin time to recover.

I understand your sentiment... but beg to differ.. I grew up watching the great 60s team... which did win things.
And there are those who claim that the 54 team was our best ever.
On results alone, though the 3 degrees team were great, I suppose the 54 team must be our best since the war.
It was the Team Of The Century.

Allen, Barlow...et al. Legends.
From 4th to rock bottom in 5 years

But then we went from 8th to a totally avoidable relegation in the same timespan in the PL

Those were my early days, the 60's, and I was constantly reminded by elders that the Buckingham team was the best.
