Will be the death of the game.

They were taking DNA samples just then to see that Son was atomically offside
I hate it. Two minutes of  fans cheering a goal then waiting for the re-start and suddenly the realisation that VAR is ongoing then finally the goal is ruled out. Shocking.

If you are going to have VAR checks, the referee needs to blow up immediately the ball hits the net and do that telly sign thing so at least the crowd know there is a real possibility of the goal being chalked off.

There'a a very real threat of taking emotion out of the game and emotion is what sport is all about.

If he's off, he's off!

Thing is if you're going to rule down to the millimetre then let's see the frame of the ball on the players foot who made the pass as well. Can bet that was more than a millimetre off

Games gone Tom

Now you're just being silly. Big Grin
Camera frame rates are too slow to catch this kind of thing. It's absolute bobbins

Maybe but when there's 2 big marker pen lines across the pitch courtesy of Tony Hart you have to wonder
Just saw this on MOTD and got to be honest I'm still not convinced that's offside. That really is a tight decision.
Surely there needs to be a clear and obvious rule to come in for offside. Someone else could've quite easily have said that wasn't offside, it really was that tight.
The offside rule needs to change, as with VAR we can now check to the millimetre.

Very difficult however to set an arbitrary distance for a player to be “offside” without these types of calls happening as we can’t add subjectivity to what is a yes/no decision.

Clear and obvious error still isn’t working for penalties and red cards, so no guarantee it would work with VAR.
