Really enjoyed today, well except the first 2-3 minutes and despite the brain dead drunks behind me whinging at every short pass, short corner or time we didn't hoof the ball forward at every opportunity.

The very best and worst of us wrapped up in one game. For 30 minutes we were sensational, and we could have scored a fair few more, but our own shambolic defending and silly errors made the game far more difficult than it should have been.  Other than Reading, we still haven't conceded a goal that hasn't been entirely of our own making which is both promising and frustrating in equal measure.

The decision to drop Krov was entirely vindicated as we looked far more ruthless going forward, Periera linked up better with Austin, and Grady found acres of space. The last 30 mins or so in the first half when those three were interchanging they were causing chaos and I don't think I can remember the last time I've been so excited watching us. Add to that Furlong's surging runs from the back we can beat players for fun and at real pace.

Johnstone - 6 - Silly error for their 2nd goal, but I think there were a few fouls in the build up. He commanded his area better and conceded that goal through coming to claim when a punch would have been better. Some excellent distribution today.

Ferguson - 6 - Steady, but looked more exposed at left back. Showed his inexperience with his yellow late on, and I think a little fortunate to not get a red which could have really cost us.
Ajayi - 9 - The lad looks an absolute snip at £1.5m... Really wish he'd found a finish with his late surging run!
Bartley - 6 - Howler for the opener, but battled back bravely and turned in a very solid display.
Furlong - 8 - Looks another snip. Especially like how he and Phillips swap roles staying forward/back.

Livermore - 9 - One of his best games in a long time. He's getting fitter and covered so much ground. Removing Krov meant he had to get forward a lot more and could have had a hattrick!
Sawyers - 7 - Quietest game since arriving for me. Nothing fancy, nothing silly. Kept it ticking over in middle of park.

Diangana - 9 - MOTM - This lad can be a real star, and I think we need to start preparing for his January recall! Wonderful goal, a constant menace and his tracking back and turnovers on the half way line show a brain far above his age. A real, real prospect.
Periera - 9 - Fabulous player and worth the ticket price alone. If his curling shot second half went in it was a goal of the season contender. His link up play with Diangana and Sawyers was sublime.
Phillips - 9 - Any one of these 3 could have had MOTM IMO. Wonderful goal and another who looks fitter than before.

Austin - 6 - Tried hard, really needs a goal. I think he's as frustrated as anyone at his own fitness and rustiness. The next 2 weeks will do him good. The goals will come.

Zohore, Krov and Edwards can all have 7s. Slav used them well to manage the game.

Slav - 10 - Managed the game brilliantly, was brave in his selections, and went fucking mental when we scored. What's not to love.
Austin was a solid seven and looked far closer to match fitness and sharpness than his previous performances.

Absolutely bang on the money that mate. Totally agree with your analysis on the 3 behind Austin but importantly you picked up on Semi and Jake who were (within their own positions) outstanding. Jake Livermore today was just sublime and I felt helped Sawyers along who was at his most quiet today. The way we recovered and played from about minute 10 to 44 was superb. Shame that second goal went is as I really felt we would have hit Blackburn for a few more despite Morbray's 2 half time subs, who both had an impact. Think you were kind to Austin (seen DH disagrees) but he was poor today. Nothing really stuck and I actually think he won't suit the way we are now set up with the intricate play from those behind him. Big Ken did more for the team in his 20-25 than Austin had done previously.
Great to get the home win and think this international break has come at the right time re Austin (fitness), Hegazi getting closer to fitness and even more time on the training pitch for the whole group.
Happy times
I think Furlong will play at a high level. Time and again he received Johnstone’s kicks without breaking his stride and at great pace.

Agreed, he doesn’t look right.

Mate of mine compared him to Lambert.

Not quite Lambert levels but I catch the drift. Slow and lumbering, balls bouncing off him, and instinct seems to be gone. A busted flush?

I don't think he suits the way we play to be honest.

Yep. He might not score many but as long as he makes himself a nuisance and runs the channels etc it creates the space for the potent attacking wingers/mids we have behind.

Austin just doesn't look up for that type of play.

I dont rate Austin a pub player for the Poachers Arms.
Having said that he would of finished both of Blackburns goals no problem.
His best position is in the six yard box waiting for a cross o ar knock on.
We dont do that enough. to help him.
