Are age ratings on films even a thing anymore?

Used to be a massive thrill as a kid watching a 15 or 18 rated film.

Sneaking them on the rich kids philips 2000 vcr! Jaws, I spit on your grave, texas chainswaw massacre, the exorcist, poltergeist, the omen, hills have eyes....

I can barely remember the films, but I remember the excitement leading up to it.

(That Jaws scene when a rubber doll appears - it was shit even then)
Just some panel of idiots justifying the salary another bunch of idiots are paying them.
What a surprise that some people are being exercised by this, it's not like PG is X-rated. It's just another excuse for people to trot out some anti-woke rubbish when they'd rather the world was filled with "free speech", which basically means to be as unpleasant as you like and if someone gets harmed in some way by that then that's their bad luck.

I know which I prefer.
Well this news has really taken the shine off the roaring progress we've been making as a society elsewhere.
Anyone old enough to remember CH4 sticking a red triangle in the corner of the screen?

This was when they broadcast something never allowed to be shown on UK TV before

Now a film made in 1964 needs to be graded

At the same time kids are given a tablet before the boob

As someone already said keeps some muppet in an over paid job

Red triangle movies were always such a bloody let down!!! Big Grin. Always remember some lad at school would tell us one was on that night and we'd all make sure we watched... Probably the best way of increasing viewer numbers they've ever had!
I really hope they don't change the Blazing Saddles rating, that will tip me over once and for all!!

Red Traingle = Chance of BushSmile Smile

Why people get wound up to shouting at clouds levels by this baffles me Smile So what?

I'm with Worcs. Better to be oversensetive and too nice as a society shirley?
I'm pretty sure Ventvogel - one of the characters in King Solomon's mines - was referred to as a 'hottentot' in the book (possibly in the film as well - don't think I've ever seen it!). Never occurred to me - nor anybody else probably - that it might have been a derogatory term; then again, this was Tipton before the tide of gentrification.

It was one of the books we did in English when I was about twelve, along with (from memory) The Tempest and She stoops to conquer. Is it any wonder I still exhibit evidence of the trauma.
