How depressingly familiar.
I tend to agree in this case.

The party were right to disown this candidate, perhaps too long, but they got there eventually.

Perhaps the penny will finally drop for those outliers who question the need for party discipline. I doubt the timing of his comments - after the deadline for a replacement candidate - was anything other than calculated.

That said, a number of analysts - Pentagon included - have commented that Israel's security along that border had been allowed to become uncharacteristically lax; which isn't, of course, the same as suggesting it was 'inviting' an incursion. Whether even Netanyahu is capable of pursuing a pogrom out of embarrassment is probably questionable.

I think his comments were made some time ago, it's the timing of their being made public by the Mail on Sunday which is 'interesting'

I think there is a wider debate to be had about what is and isn't reasonable criticism of Israelli govt policy. But this comment is fairly straight forward, spreading this kind of conspiracy theory is not what we should expect from our mps.
Labour should publicly endorse the Lib Dem candidate after the two by-elections this week now they've withdrawn from supporting their candidate, they have to make sure a moderate comes ahead of Galloway and we don't want that nonce Danczuk back in.
Walking on egg shells around anti-semitism is quite a feat these days as Israel's blood lust has now surpassed the capacity of the Hawthorns.

Anti-semitism is Jew hate

Do you walk on egg shells around Sinophobia these days as the CCP murders, sterilises and imprisons Uyghur Muslims?

There are plenty of people who are rightly critical of the human rights record of the Chinese Govt, not sure any of these people are accused of bigotry against Chinese people in general.

I believe it should be possible to make criticisms of the Israeli Govt without being accused if anti semitism.

In the case of the Labour candidate for Rochdale, his comments about the Israeli government went beyond what was acceptable and the party had every right to disown him as a candidate.

Not so sure about this one .

If the candidate had said, fucking Saudis and I don't think any British citizen should join and fight for the Saudi army, would anybody be bothered.

And I wonder whether we should be monitoring private meetings to this extent. People are going to be a little less guarded about what they say in these kind of situations.

Wonder what gets said in the private meetings of other political parties.
