Good shout that BB. Very strong contender
Showing your age Fantastico. I thought you were a young whipper snapper. What year did you start following? I started in that 75/76 season- first game at Christmas v Orient. Still fills me with magic when I think of that day, just walking in and seeing the pitch.

Regarding balance, I think it is a sweet spot we have hit between defence and attack and whilst in modern times I loved the Mowbray era where we could hit 4 or 5 regularly, a pragmatic approach is more sensible. This pragmatism was epitomised under Roy Hodgson, who is the best manager we have had in the past 40 years.

Now though we do seem to have got something right, built from the ashes of the Ishmael and Bruce madness. Considering what Corberan came to just over a year ago, it is mightily impressive.

I've got a feeling that was my first match .

I wor alive then!  Big Grin

I guess the way we play now is aligned with how we were under Roy?
We have always been very well organised under CC. Especially in defence. But what strikes me now is just how much better our movement off the ball is getting. Lots more options now for the guy on the ball. Our sole forward is getting less and less isolated. I think playing both Tom and Jed is going to be very fruitful for us. Both have excellent crossing ability, something that will benefit DD and BTA going forward.

Great summary for that and essentially why I draw the comparison.

BBs example I would say was very close of short lived. Hodgson to me (brilliant as he was) consistently have the top end working in the way you accurately describe here. Once we get a grip on games we slice sides open at will. I think there is more to come on that front

6 years or so behind you Spandau so sadly only got memories of his second era (less said the better). He was a friend of the family when I was growing up so I’ve immersed myself in watching that era you refer to but my first game was 81

Are you Harborne way originally then Fantastico?
He still lives there.
Watched a great RTE documentary on him a few years ago.
