Messi is a genius but I'd love him to leave his comfort zone and join another team.
Same here. He hasn't got to 'do it' on a cold Tuesday evening in February in Stoke but would be interesting to see him in a different league at least.
Why would he though?

He can do no wrong at Barcelona and they pay him whatever he asks, he will surely go down as their greatest ever player, especially if he retires there.
19 goals in 18 matches v English clubs suggests he is more than proven against the best this country has to offer

+1

It's all about opinions of course, but, good though Best was (for a few seasons), I wouldn't have him close to Messi, who really is a football genius.

If you have that one player, then you sacrifice everything.

Maradona 86
Zidane 97
Ronaldo E16.

History points to the fact that one man teams win major trophies at international level. Just that sometimes the supporting cast is far better equipped than others - Re; Zidane 97.

The point I was making in my previous post was that these days in terms of quality of football, the Champions League is the greatest stage, and it is one on which Messi has been successful.

In terms of quality, Shabs, you may well be right - But, it's still not the greatest show on earth, is it ( Unless of course, you think any different )

Heres some decent artillery that agrees Maradona is the better ( more talented ) of the two.
Poch, Pele, Batistuta, Zico...........Maradona. Smile
Ronaldo has done it in England, Spain and is now doing it in Italy, as well as winning an international trophy with Portugal and generally always seems to drag his country to victory - for that reason I will always view Ronaldo as the better player. But I won't argue with anyone who wishes to disagree and put Messi ahead of Ronaldo.

To witness two genuine greats (and dare I say legends?) compete in the same era, is remarkable and something football fans should rejoice in. Both should be admired and both will be a huge loss to the game when their time comes to retire.

'The greatest ever' is an argument that will never be settled. We have two exceptional players, playing against each other, in the same era and the debate about who the better of the two will never be settled. How on earth are you meant to debate the question when you include players from past eras, like Best, Zidane and Maradona?
I watched 'Pointless' last night, and the question was: Name The Top 100 Best Ever Players (as per some official List).

I missed who had compiled The List, but was pleased that Messi came above Ronaldo (which must have buggered Ronaldo's ego - the bigheaded twat). Pele was named Top (although I'd have Messi any day).

Strangely, Dixie Dean made The 100, which buggers any credibility that The List might have. How on Earth can anyone measure a current player against DD who retired 80 years ago (with about 2 minutes of video evidence)? He might have been the all-time record goalscorer, or whatever, but his football ability can never be compared with Joe Mayo, surely.
