Never underestimate the ability of politicians to politicise a tragedy. Fuck it, let's just implement China's social credit score system as that's clearly what the government and opposition want.

Politicians seeking to further stifle free expression and clamp down on people saying nasty things about them?
Nah i don't believe you..
Politicians and journalists United in demanding an end to anonymous social media is a bit rich.

I mean who has ever heard or read a report on a political issue with a quote from a unnamed spokesman.

"Sources close to the Chancellor said...."
A proposed law that is ripe for the potential abuse of power to genuinely shut down debate. The fact those pushing hardest have been waging ‘war on woke’, ‘cancel culture’ and gaslighting the country for the last fine years is particularly ironic. Ac is the very same MPs who have shown absolutely no wish to be conciliatory towards those that disagree with them who found themselves in the minority.

Labour are just as bad on this. Their support of the OHB despite it being dumb in every single way and a guaranteed failure is testament, as was their support for the Tories unenforceable porn ban bill. Both parties despise civil liberties. Let's not forget the number of curbs on privacy and rights they instigated under Blair and Brown either, though the Tories were cheerleading them on then.

I’m don’t deny they have been on this.
I am wondering just how enforceable this is though if you are even slightly tech savvy? Most cases I’ve seen are people daft enough to post from accounts linked to their personal emails, on their personal Facebook account etc.
If they post on a more restricted account from behind a vpn whilst using Tor, I think it’s going to be too difficult for the coppers to be bothered except in the most extreme of circumstances
It may actually have the good side effect of teaching people the importance of anonymity and the tools to use for it.
