Being reported that we are going to go without one and leave it up to our new manager.

He's going to be a busy boy....

All joking aside we will need someone experienced if that's the case. I'd pay Roy whatever he wanted personally.

Can't see money being Roy's main thing nowadays, but I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

No DoF will make the manager search more interesting, especially if most modern / successful managers are used to working with one...

Where'd you hear the no DoF report?

More likely Ken will absorb that role to his duties and we'll get a more experienced manager who can do both roles essentially.

Not many out there nowadays.
Not much point paying a sporting director anyway, if Lai's gonna overule him on a decision as trivial, as selecting our next head coach / manager.   Rolleyes

Good point! Has anyone heard any rumours on what Ken thought of Wilder / Appleton / Wagner etc..?

Presumably he bows to paymaster Lai. I'm sure he wouldn't go against him.

When Ken stated (after Dowling “left”) that we will look at the structure it was clear what role was being questioned.  If the DOF allowed the manager to overrule him re acquisitions and sales, then little point having a DOF.
Being reported Dane Muprhy may be leaving Barnsley to join Forest after their owners finally accepted they can't keep signing 20 players a season and hope a couple of them come off!

He'd be a really good fit for our set up... intelligent, experienced and had a lot of success transforming Barnsley in a very short space of time... not that we'll look at, or back anyone remotely progresssive!
