Not all doom and gloom.

Slaven built a fairly young team which, if we can keep the core of it, could serve us well for a few years.

But.. it is too lightweight. A bit naive. And we need some steel. Some knowhow.

It doesnt really matter if we get relegated this year, so long as we learn.

And the likes of Snodgrass (hopefully) can teach some of our youngsters how to be that bit more... ballsy.

I feel optimistic about where we are. Even if, this season, we are having some hard lessons.
I don’t know you as a poster but be warned any chink of light on here is extinguished with brute force in a truly cold savage merciless way.
Have a thick skin my son.
I think this is right, our squad is way ahead of the majority of the championship, just as it is way behind the majority of the PL.

The problem is when you're losing week in week out it's very hard to stop the rot. Quite often the teams that get completely destroyed in the Prem also go in to struggle in the championship, despite having decent squads.
I see what you say but we also need to eradicate the losing mentality. Sort out who has simply had a bad season from those who will accept always having bad seasons. I believe that's why certain players get relegated numerous times with different clubs.

Stop being all balanced and sensible.

Exactly this.

I’m really struggling with the doom and gloom. We’re going down yes, but we aren’t in huge debts, we have a young team that should develop, and we shouldn’t be under huge pressure to sell when we drop.

Lai lacks leadership, but it’s not in his interest to let us rot in the Championship. If we go down, we’re in a better position than the one we were in 3 years ago, and our financial clout will be a lot stronger than ever (even with reduced parachute payments)

We drop, we release the 10 or so with expiring contracts, we add a couple players, integrate a few youth, a couple decent loans and we go again.

Jokes apart well done Bruin.

It’s so easy to hiss and spit and rant after a defeat, but so many seem to forget we have some very decent players, but not enough at this level.
The result is drained confidence and this rips people to bits.
Get Snodgrass in there and shake things up.

I like the sound of that.

Despite what the Double-Dip Doomongers say, we've been sensible with money and have no one on a stupid contract.

Without any investment, we can't compete in the PL and if the only new owners available are vampire capitalists like Burnley's new owners, we may as well stay as we are.

Completely.

A first team with Pereira, Diangana and Grant up top will be fine in that league... and our defence is fine... another striker, a couple midfielders, hopefully one of Windsor, Morton and co will step up... we’re well on our way.

In the Championship we'll be fine. This lot are good enough for that.

We'll compete. Automatic? Not sure. We need better forwards.
