[attachment=239]3 years ago yesterday, we played Swansea away on the last day of the season. I took a picture of these armed police because it was so unusual to see at any game let alone a last day fixture with nothing riding on it. The next day was the Manchester bombing, I have often wondered if they knew, just didn't know where.
That's sent a bit of a shiver down me.

We were due to go to the Manchester Arena the following Saturday to see Take That. They could just as easily have chosen that concert to let the bomb off instead.

I was there with work that night. Me and a colleague had out for a few beers and a curry and on our way back to the Crown Plaza by the Printworks we'd walked past the Arndale where he'd shown me the postbox which was the only surviving relic after the IRA terror attack. Early the next morning I was aware of helicopters circling above the hotel and flicked the telly on to hear about what had happened the night before about 300 yards from where I was sleeping.
