No one forces you not to grow your own crops either.

Cest la vie.

Some political credos do enforce the way you grow crops though.

"The immediate effects of forced collectivization were reduced grain output and almost halved livestock numbers, thus creating major famines throughout the USSR during 1932 and 1933. In 1932–1933, an estimated 11 million people, 3–7 million in Ukraine alone, died from famine after Stalin forced the peasants into collectives."

There was me thinking you were all for self reliance.

Or is it just when it suits the script?

If people are too fat they can alwayd eat less.

If they are hungry it is the fault of socialism.

I think you're confused. Collectivism was compulsory, there was variously no choice of if you farmed, where you farmed, what you farmed, how you farmed. When Mao emptied the countryside to move peasants into industry the ensuing famine (not hunger) was a direct result of socialism.

And yes, obesity is one of the prices we pay for living in a free society with abundant food. Yes, you could choose to eat less. Not a problem most people who lived under socialism ever had.

In Venezuela they're eating their pets.
