Stating the obvious, but...

27 points at home, 35 points away.
Great to be top and pulling away a bit, but we can see where improvement is needed.

We have played more games away this season so far which could count for some of the difference plus teams shut up shop at the Hawthorns which makes the wins harder. The big stating the obvious this season is only losing 4 compared to at least 8 from most of our rivals.

As the end game plays out though, more teams will have nothing to play for, and some teams will need to win at The Hawthorns. I hope we see some open games, that we can exploit.

Is there that much difference?

                                  Home.          Away
Points per game:          1.8.             2.06

Goal diff.                    +12             +11

Goals per game.           1.8             1.47

Win % ratio.                46.7            58.8

Loss % ratio.               13.3            11.8

As B1 says, visiting teams’ approach to the game at the Hawthorns is all about stifling our attack.
Other than the aspect of crowd pleasing, does it ultimately matter where the majority of the points are won?

Several teams have put in performances of the season against us at home, too.

Not to mention more than a few very very dodgy refs!

We've played 11 of the bottom 12 teams away this season and only 8 at home which will no doubt impact those scores, although looking at Home and Away league tables we've actually got the majority of our most difficult away games out of the way... we face quite a few of the better "away" sides at home in the next few games whereas we shouldn't have a lot to fear on the road.

Other than Brentford and Blackburn, most of our away games are against sides that have been struggling in front of their own fans so we may well see that statistic improve by the end of the year.

One shocking stat however is that we've played 5 of the worst 7 travelling sides at home and only beaten 1 of them... In 78 games Charlton, Boro, Stoke, Luton and Barnsley have managed 50 points between them, but have managed to take 8 in 5 from us!

Fair point Arti.  Normally the other way around. Defo a problem for us when teams sit in - especially without last years front 2
